The largest city of Murgia hides many treasures and important archeological discoveries; the old town of Altamura, together with the cathedral by Frederick II (the only one religious monument that the emperor ordered to build), represents a unique proof of the Medieval city planning. The so-called “claustri” and the memory of the sharing in the quartiers lived by different ethnic groups have become the symbol of Altamura, a city that is much more well known for its excellent culinary product: DOP bread.
